Project Linus Blanket #15 complete

last year

Last one was very masculine, so I wanted this one to be feminine. I made the stripes but then realized I didn't have enough to do the center stripe out of just lavender (the actual color is more lavender than purple). So I decided to make the center stripe split between the lavender and cream. But then it looked odd. So I thought of embroidering the daisy onto it to pull it all together and it worked.

My next project is for a couple who is getting married this May...have to get pulling that hook as it's a large one!

Awesome afghan. They are time consuming. I joined my local crocheting group recently. It is called Crochet for a Cause. We make items for stillborn preemies to nursing home patients. When I dragged my yarn stash out I found out I had several skeins of baby yarn, so I've been making blankets and caps for stillborn preemies . We meet twice month and if you don't know how to crochet they will teach you.

That’s lovely, and a pretty stitch. I think it reads rather neutral, it is the flower that carries it into being feminine. Very pretty.

Lyban, it's impossible to estimate how long it takes as so much time is in between when I work on it...I have a yarn group I go to and like to have an easy project to work on while I'm there, so often I'd only do 1 hr a week.

A lot also depends on the size of the blanket.

I can tell you crochet is a lot faster than knitting though.

I say try it...you might like it! You can try to teach yourself as there's so much available on youtube. The advantage of videos is that you can stop them and repeat as often as you like.

What an amazing coincidence! I just made a baby blanket for a friend’s soon-to-be-born baby in the exact same colours! Different pattern though, but stripes were involved 😁 Yours is a pretty pattern, and I love your ”necessity is the mother of invention” stripe.

I've heard from someone else who was a recipient of a Project Linus blanket. It's so nice to hear from people who have gotten comfort from them.

The colors in this one were inspired by our trip to France when the lavender was in bloom...

Your inspiration photo as design seed really does work. I won’t express it well, but the peace, the contentment, the warmth and comfort of the scene are evident, are manifested, in the blanket. After all, lavender is used for calming, and it is in the blanket.
