I’m assuming that’s the new countertop and new backsplash and in short order that range will be replaced with something with some stainless on it. So while the space doesn’t scream vintage it also doesn’t scream modern…so if vintage is your preferred style you can certainly bring some in and it won’t look out of place. Like…instead of the wooden canister you could find an old apothecary jar to hold utensils. Swap out your current bowl holding the bananas with an antique (or antique looking) depression era glass bowl. Instead of one cutting board, how about a couple really old ones. The art on the wall if there’s room for art, etc.

Remove the tile, leave your 4" strip, and paint the rest of the splash area the same color as your counters. You don't need a counter strip and a tile splash. I too have a small kitchen, did this, and it really makes for a more streamlined, less chaotic look. It opens up a hemmed in kitchen. Whatever you put on your counter will pop against the white.

Consider more modern cabinet knobs in chrome for a bit of shine. Add a favorite MCM utensil canister and more attractive dish drainer. (I skip a drainer and just pile everything up on a towel, which I can then put away and have more counter space available.)
