Help choosing fabric

I am having an L shaped bench made.The bench will be put against a wall next to the bed.The same wall has a door leading out to the terrace.I am looking for a type of fabric that would match the bedroom furniture.it is going in the corner where the step laddder is.There is a mirror next to the door leading to the terrace it is going to be used as a spot to sit down and put your shoes on or get dressed in front of the mirror. Would a pattern solid or striped fabric be a better choice for me?
