Grout Sealer application

For sealing grout in a shower with porcelain subway tiles, is a tool like this applicator alright to use? I’ve practiced wiping the sealer off on some extra tiles I have and it wipes off very easily, but I always see people use a small foam brush to carefully not to get outside the grout lines. Is it a bad idea to get the sealer on the tiles then just wipe/buff it off? Thank you for any advice you all have 😊
