Boring house in full bloom - suggestions?

Now I have summertime photos of "the boring house."
I cut down the hedge in front of the garage side - thinking of just putting flagstones to widen the 4' sidewalk path more. Maybe a bench or so here?
I looked at Juniper Julips? (the short evergreens with the trimmed balls) to put in front of the house, just to the right of the raised hosta garden - does this sound good? The spirea in front of the porch I'm pulling out and planting a grouping of mature daylillies and grouping of purple phlox (?).
I haven't done anything with the shutters yet - not sure how to put larger trim around the windows as someone suggested. Probably painting the door in deep burgandy. Also thought of taking off the porch railings since there is only about 2' behind the railing to sit in the chairs.
Any ideas will be appreciated:)

| In my opinion you have a very nice house. Want a boring house - try a mid-60's ranch! There are millions of these cloned-homes all across the land, with me sitting in one right now. But I am thankful just to have a home. |

| You might want to link this into the Landscaping forum, to see if you can get any helpful suggestions. Me, I'm a cottage gardener so I'd enlarge that whole bed to take out half the grass and turn it into an explosion of color and texture. Right now it's too much of the same shade of green. Foliage can be the most beautiful and colorful element in landscaping, giving much longer seasonal interest than the usual 6-week flower-bloom-and-over. Also, there's no middle layer tying the taller house & trees into the short squat perennials. I think it's a lovely house, BTW. |

Thank you for saying the the house is not boring! Jkom51 - I am not sure where the middle layer to tye the taller house and trees into the short squat perennials should be? Are the short squat perennials the small bushes in front of the railing? Thanks ! |
