Another Crown Molding Question

| Forgot to add this to the original post...How to you end crown molding in this situation...the ceiling/wall run ends at a staircase opening going to the next floor, so if I just cut the molding, you will have the exposed triangular hole showing. I would fill that will a matching sized block, but is there a more finished way to end the opening? |

| If I understand the question, the crown is usually terminated with a small "return" to the wall. |

Search engine "crown moulding installation" and determine what route is best for your application. No one here can fully explain in detail without really seeing your project as there are various ways to install crown moulding. Some of the variables include size of the trim, ceiling being flat or pitched,( such as a vaulted ceiling), and where, in your case, you need a return for an exposed end, etc. etc. etc. |

| The most common option is a return - just a small triangle of the same molding mitered like an outer edge corner. Another option is a block or hollow box with some decorative molding on the bottom. If you are using a standard profile, the big box store will sell them premade. |
