laundry in 2nd floor

The previous owner had pull the vanity out of the second floor bathroom and installed washer and drier. Obviously, I need that vanity back. There is a spacious laundry room in the basement with another set of washer and drier. However, since I have that second set I was thinking maybe I ll find a place to install them upstairs. They "could" still fit in the bathroom making it super cramped and an eye sore or I could put them in a nook in the hallway. That nook is the perfect location BUT far away of any "wet" wall. How hard is to pull up pipes and make a new drain? Do I need to also open up the wall in the first floor (under the nook)?
Thanks for any comments and advice.
Do you think is worth all the hassle? I never had laundry upstairs before so it is not that I am already spoiled but it is an opportunity nevertheless. |

| How hard is to pull up pipes and make a new drain? Do I need to also open up the wall in the first floor (under the nook)? Supply pipes are usually not a big problem. Unless there is a drain close enough to allow for a proper slope in the floor joist space, you'll have to create another drop to the basement. Get a licensed plumber to evaluate it. Second-floor laundries are a standard feature in many new homes today. |
