Stacking 2nd floor LG's--opinions?

Posted by clinresga (My Page) on

We currently have the LG WM2487 and DLGX7188 FL pair sitting on pedestals. For storage reasons we're contemplating stacking them. There is a stacking kit available. It's a main floor installation over a full basement, tile floor over conventional residential construction.

Currently there is mild to moderate vibration with the washer-it will gradually creep a 1/4'' side to side after a heavy load, but nothing I would consider excessive. Questions are:

Will the vibration be better due to the weight of the dryer "holding" the washer down, or will the height exaggerate vibration?

Will the concentrated weight "stress" the floor more?

Is there any concern that the vibration may affect the dryer electronics etc and shorten lifespan?

Any other pros or cons?

Thanks!

Hi, I can tell you from my experience with stacking the Samsungs i had, that it did not make a difference in the washer vibration when we stacked the dryer on the top. I do have a slab under them. I did purchase an Electrolux set and the washer vibrated so badly that i was afraid to put the dryer on it, and after asking the delivery guys and the guys who sold it, they said that it would not help with the washer vibration. We had no weight problems with both in the same place. You may have better luck since your vibration is not as bad as i had. I would give it a try anyway. Good Luck

Our LGs don't vibrate that much and don't walk. The vibration was greater when the installers left them, so we pulled out the level and it made a pretty big difference. Have you checked yours to make sure they are level in all directions (front to back on both sides, across front and back and on the diagonal)? We wanted to stack to gain some counter space, but my old machine died before I could change the cabinets and connections. We've left them side by side on pedestals, but I think they'd work fine stacked.

The dryer isn't that heavy and won't have an impact on the washer.
