Virginia Mist countertops - eased/pencil edge?

We picked out a beautiful slab of polished Virginia Mist granite this past weekend for our new countertops and had been anticipating using an eased edge. I just received an edge profile sheet from the fabricator and "eased" is not listed. They do offer 1/8" pencil edge, or a 1/8" up/down edge. Are either of these the same thing as eased? I've searched the forum to no avail.

If so, are there any benefits to the 1/8" up/down edge (i.e., both the top and bottom edges have the 1/8" rounded edge) over the 1/8" pencil edge? I wouldn't think this would be particularly visible at counter height.

We're using jet mist honed--so excited. It really is beautiful.

Our fabricator uses the terms "eased edge" and "pencil edge" interchangeably, so I believe they are the same, but I'm curious as to what others say.

I've never heard of up/down, but it sounds pretty.

I would ask to see samples of whatever you are considering, since terminology does differ from fabricator to fabricator. Do a google image search of the terms "pencil edge granite" and "eased edge granite" and you'll see what I mean. What is labeled "pencil edge" on one site is called "half bull nose" on another. For some, "pencil edge" is practically a straight, sharp corner, and for others, it is quite rounded. Seeing a sample is your best way to avoid misunderstanding.

Here's the sheet that I received from the fabricator. I don't see any difference between the 1/8" inch pencil edge and what I imagine an eased edge to be. Is that right, though? I just want to make sure that I'm not messing this up.

My fabricator also only offers one in this small radius category... but another fabricator I spoke with did offer two: an eased edge and a pencil edge. The eased edge was definitely a tighter radius. We were discussing how that really tight radius is supposed to be slightly better if your're getting marble (not granite) as far as reducing chips, but also that the tighter radius is less comfortable to lean on.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the 1/8" radius shown!
