My son and granddaughter died 2 years ago today
Comments (6)Thank you everybody for your kind thoughts. We got thru the 17th, and then Father's Day. Brycesmommy, you've been so in my thoughts and prayers. Your burden is great, too, and this time of year is especially difficult for you also. The past 2 years, we seem to be especially vulnerable starting with Mother's Day, then Millie's birthday, the anniversary of their deaths and then Father's Day. I do appreciate your kind words and the friends who called us just to say they know how terrible that day was. Somehow or another, we seem to be able to get things together later in summer, and then we function OK until Dave's birthday in October, remembering the glorious day on which he was born, and reviewing his life and how much we loved him. As I may have mentioned, Dave was a fine, fine baseball player in high school and college; he played until his early thirties, and then work and family left him with no time for baseball. He loved the game, and so did all of us. Last year, on June 17th, we visited his high school and walked to the baseball field. It was completely empty, school being out for the summer. On the bench in the home dugout was a single baseball. I think he left it there for us. This year on the 17th, I was walking my only other grandchild (she's 2) home, and there in the midst of a baseball field, newly dragged and devoid of footprints was a baseball! I think (and pray) that he's telling us that he and Millie are fine, but how terribly we miss them. Bless you all who are carrying such terrible burdens. You're in my prayers....See MoreJohn Travolta's son died
Comments (3)Very sad news. This is from my homepage news: Jett was the oldest child of Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, who also have an 8-year-old daughter. The family arrived on a private plane Tuesday and had been vacationing at their home in the Old Bahama Bay resort community....See MoreWhat locked my Neighbor’s 6.5 Briggs Quantum Edge Engine?
Comments (0)I wanted to see what locked my Neighbor’s 6.5 Briggs Quantum Edge Engine on his small 22” mower as mine. Last season he told me his son hit a rock that bent the blade throwing it out of balance. He straightened the blade well enough to finish last season. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I wanted to see if the bent blade and balance issue could possibly be related to it locking. IMO, the flywheel key s/h sheared to save the motor. Causing it not to run until the key was replaced to put it back in time. I pulled the head and the cylinder had deep scores deep on the carb side. That was leading me to pull the carb until I saw approx a 1/16” layer of grit due to no filter. At that point I felt the grit entering the cyl caused the scores. I forced the piston out of the locked position and it turned fair but I knew it was a parts eng at that point. I stripped it of the spares I wanted and gave the bulk to a friend that had 2-3 of the engines needing parts. Do you feel the grit and low very dirty oil was the Killer? I felt the crank probably looked bad due to the condition of the “Low Dirty Oil”. Splitting the case was out of my time frame after seeing the cyl. LOL! No Pics due to not being able to post 1 or 4 but once vs a Red X. All the problems are since the software switch and switching to AT&T U-Verse Broad Band (about the same time). There were indications that my modem was switching Off/On that a Tech seems to have resolved. All of my past and present Pics attached were .jpg extensions. What extensions are working for you?...See MoreHow does this work...son hit neighbors garage with car
Comments (109)I rarely notice vehicles of any kind backed into spaces so I paid attention while we were out running errands today. We were at Costco, Home Depot, the grocery stores, a large medical complex and went out to dinner before heading home. All total, I saw four vehicles backed into spaces and all were full size pickups, which is pretty much what I observe anytime I'm out. It makes me wonder if backing into a space is a regional practice not seen in my area or if most people tend to pull forward into a space when parking. Now, what really gets my goat is someone with a large full size pickup or SUV pulling a long trailer who takes up two+ spaces when they park due to the combined length of the vehicle/trailer. It's not the two+ spaces that bugs me; it's that they generally insist on parking near the store entrance and taking up two+ spaces with the butt end of their trailer blocking most of the lane between rows of spaces making it impossible for anyone trying to find a space to drive down the lane. These people are being rude and need to use the rarely used spaces at the edges of the parking lot so that they don't cause parking lot jams. Grrrrrrr... Edit to add that we own a full size 4x4 pickup, but always try to be polite about where and how we park. Hubby is good at backing into tight spaces, but I am a complete and dismal failure especially if any distance is involved....See Moresylviatexas1
