Hollywood weekend diet drink?

Lose up to 10 lbs. in two days? Is this realistic? Anyone try this "miracle" diet drink? What do you think about it?

10 pounds is equal to 35,000 calories. If you jogged non stop for 24 hours, you would use about 17,000 calories. I don't mean to be rude or insensitive to you but why are there so many naive people on this site. Do you really believe you can lose weight with a "magic" pill or drink. My dear friends---THERE IS ONLY 1 WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT. EAT LESS AND EXERCISE. Now stop dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been there, done it. I lost a total of 3 lbs. and spent most of the last day not too far any bathrooms! For 3 lbs. I didn't think it was worth it, but that's just my opinion. I look forward to seeing how everyone else has fared.

I'm back! I wanted to get back to you about my trip, especially because all of you were so nice to help. I am sorry to say, that time went by so quick, we didn't get to do all we wanted to do. Friday night went to Mr. Chow's-and then to The Polo Lounge, which was being renovated, so another club was set up in the hotel. It was much too crowded, got one drink and back to our hotel. Saturday went to Rodeo Drive and to eat pizza at a place on Melrose called Mozza's, I think. It was VERY good! We had a couple of drinks at the Beverly Wilshire, L.A. Reid was at the next table. Then went back to hotel to get ready for the Clive Davis Grammy Party, which was being held at our hotel, so we wanted to see all the celebriites go in and out. Saw so many, and to name a few: Joan and Melissa Rivers, Joan Collins, Gayle King, Hoda Kotbe (sp?), Kelsey Grammer (and his new young wife)-sorry, he just grosses me out, Magic Johnson, Brandy, P Diddy, Miley Cyrus, Melanie Griffith, Yolanda (RHBH) and David Foster, Sting and wife, Trudy, Tyra Banks, and so many more. A lot of them were young artists, and I didn't even know who they were until someone mentioned it. It was fun! I cannot believe how skinny the women are! Have to be a size 0, not to mention tall and long legs, so they really are thin-too thin, IMO. Sunday, went to brunch at the Four Seasons, and to dinner at Mastro's then on to the Justin Timberlake concert. It was suppose to start at 9p and it didn't start until 11:30, which I thought was ridiculous! I truly would have left if my friend wasn't so inlove with him! Got home so late and was tired and left the next day! I am sorry we didn't make it to The Stinking Rose! Someone on the plane said they smelled like garlic all weekend after eating there, so we were a little afraid to go there and then to the events we were going to attend. But, would have loved to have gone there. Oh, somewhere in there we did go to the Farmers Market for awhile. We had already had brunch so wasn't hungry. I had never been to the Walk of Fame, so we went there for a little while one day. Marlene, so glad you mentioned for us to stay at the Beverly Hilton instead of the Roosevelt! We did walk through the Roosevelt, very dark place. We went to have a drink and appetizer at Sur, but, they were filming, so never even got in the door. Had fun and was exhausted, and my feet have been tortured walking in heels all night-how do people do that??? Glad to be back home!

Hello, Im writing this so others can avoid MY awful experience with this Âjump startÂ 48 Âhour diet, sometimes called the Hollywood Diet. ItÂs Monday now and IÂm almost feeling normal again, but still very weak. Ever have stomach flu? ThatÂs what this was like. Saturday morning, full of determination, I mixed up a batch of the WomanÂs World recipe of the diet. Since it had more protein, it sounded more healthy than the Hollywood version of the Âjump-startÂ recipe. Besides, I donÂt care for papayas or apricots, which may be the source of the bitter tang some users have complained about. It tasted just FINE, and I had my first shake at around 10 am, then went about my usual weekend activity, which was sewing. Not too strenuous. I worked steadily with a big container of water next to me, taking sips off that to keep hydrated as many have recommended. When I got hungry, I drank another fruit shake. Of course I used the toilet a lot more with all this liquid, but IÂd expected that, after all, I was trying to clean out my system. In articles IÂd read about this sort of diet IÂd learned our bowels can hold from 2-7 pounds of wasteÂwhich accounts for most of the Âweight lostÂ in this diet. Of course, once youÂre back on regular food afterwards it all comes back, a little detail the TV infomercials leave out. Around 4pm my dogs came in and began staring at me. Not normal behavior for them. They are very perceptive pooches and their message was clear: ÂAre you feeling bad?Â They were right. I was feeling woozy, and had a headache, which I attributed to the sudden diet shift. I drank more water and decidedÂafter sewing a long seam up the wrong wayÂthat I needed to compromise on this. My weakness was such that I couldnÂt sit up to sew anymore, so I lay down on the bed and thought things over. As in the Slim Fast diet the idea of having one sensible meal for dinner made sense. So I had one (with some Tylenol) and felt a little better, but not much. I found I was too weak to sit at the sewing machine even then, and my trips to the toilet were becoming more frequent and cramp-ridden. Ditto for my between-runs rests. I dozed the rest of the slow evening, lurching up from bed to deal with bouts of out-and-out diarrhea, cursing myself for being so stupid. I got NO sleep that night, only catching short, shallow dozing between stumbling to the bathroom every 30 to 40 minutes, and groaning with cramp. Throughout all that my little dogs snuggled close, giving what comfort they could. I had chills, then the sweats like a fever victim, terrible cramps, and a thunderous headache that no amount of Tylenol would fix. I kept drinking water, knowing that if I didnÂt keep hydrated IÂd only feel worse. Finally I took a dose of Emetrol for the nausea. Exactly 30 seconds later I was bent over the tub with an uncontrolled case of the heaves, and remained there in abject misery for the next half hour. I crept back to bed, extremely weak, and went back to the chills, cramps, and sweats routine for the rest of the night. In the morning I still had the awful headache, and the shakes kept me from standing upright for more than a couple minutes. The cramps had abated, so I felt certain I was on the down side of the bell curve. I continued drinking water, and in the afternoon managed to keep down a couple finely chewed crackers. I remained bed-ridden the whole of the day. By evening I had dry toast and an egg. So, there it was: the 24-hour give yourself stomach-flu symptoms diet, and, NO, I did NOT lose ANY weight. The only jump-start to my system darn near burned out the battery, leaving me incapacitated for 2 days, weaker but wiser on the third. (And full of gas!) I will mention the one time I did lose weight a couple years back. I reduced my calorie intake to 1000-1200 a day, stopped drinking caffeine and anything fizzy (including diet fizzy drinks) and increased my walking to a mile a day. I lost 30 pounds. ItÂs the same old story, the quick miracle fads just donÂt work. I was able to stick to this one for only 8 hours before my body violently rebelled against the abuse. Had I stuck to it for 48 as the regime calls for IÂd have landed in a hospital with a bunch of health care workers shaking their heads over me, too polite to ask ÂWhat were you THINKING????Â So you think about it now. As for meÂIÂm going back to the old routine. ItÂs slower, but more certain and 200% healthier. Pat Elrod

I LOST 2 POUNDS OVER THE 48 HOURS. A LOT OF MISERY FOR SUCH A SMALL LOSS. THE WORST IS THE HUNGER. YOU GET SO SICK OF DRINKING & THE BATHROOM VISITS ARE SO CONSTANT.

This doesn't work. I tried it and lost about 3 lbs. and gained it all back the minute I ate anything. I was hungry and weak the second day and even though the juice tastes pretty good, it's just not enough to sustain you. Also, 10 lbs. in 48 hours is just sooo unrealistic. If you want to jump start some diet plan and want to knock off about 3 lbs. of water weight, then I say go for it. Don't expect too much else.

First of all, that loss for the most part is only water. Secondly, if some people insist on that sort of "weight loss" program, save your money and go on prune juice for 48 hours.

It's probably just a strong diuretic/laxative. It's cleaning you out, not burning fat. Don't mean to be gross, but if you've got 10 lbs to lose in that manner, you may want to eat more fiber in your diet - LOL!

I'm sorry to disagree with you all, but I purchased it and it did work. I lost 6 pounds in 2 days, which I think is worth it. All of my friends were sure it was just water weight, but I have kept the weight off even after attending a wedding in New Orleans that very next weekend. Losing the 6 pounds made me feel better about myself so that I had the confidence to start going to the gym again and watch what I eat. Sure, it isn't the best tasting "juice" around, and I did have to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes or so, but that subsided the second day. I wasn't hungry at all, except for when I went to bed at night - before I fell asleep, my stomach would growl. I did miss the "habit" of eating. I followed the directions to the T.... you MUST drink it all day long - tiny sips every couple of minutes or so. Plus drink the 96 oz of water that it requires as well. I would be curious to see if those folks that say it didn't work for them followed the directions. This juice diet isn't the solution to your dieting needs, but it did give me a jump start, so now I watch what I eat and excerise regulary.

hate to break it to you, but this the loss is just water weight. i assumed so, and spoke to my physician. the plan is to drink this concoction of high nutrient and vitamin juice (carrots, etc.), and not eat for 2 days. not only do you lose the water weight, but by not eating you induce starvation - i.e. your body begins to burn muscle tissue instead of fat, saving the fat thinking that your body is starving. this is exactly what yo-yo dieting is. so after the two days, you've lost water weight and muscle mass. as soon as you eat anything with sodium, you've gained it back.

I fell for this one too. This nonsense was getting on my nerves two hours after starting it. For one thing, I wanted a cigarette and a coke and it seemed like this stuff made me even more hungry than usual. So I lasted about three hours total and lost 20 - dollars, that is.

Like Everestgreen, I am willing to give it a try just to get myself motivated. I only could stand to loose the 10 pounds, if I loose 3 to 5 pounds in a few days, at least I will see a difference and make more of an effort to fit a few more minutes of excercise in a day. Granted, I hadn't thought of drinking prune juice for a couple of days. I also believe that watching your portions and more exercise is the only way to loose some real weight - I just need a little boost.

There is no way that anyone can loose weight by jus sitting around and thinking the juice is gonna do it all... "You can only help someone that help themselves". The juice is a boost for you, a detox that your body needs, and puttin all the nutrients back.. after that you must excercise to keep the weight off.. Im gonna give it a try, I need it...
