Since seeing the 'Arhaus furniture' thread, I can't get this color out of my head! It's called 'Tropical Tides' and i'm thinking of painting a vintage dresser and headboard/footboard for a guest room. I originally thought black, but can't stop thinking about this color! If it turns out too bright, I can always put a glaze on, right? Or paint it black. How would it look if I added a little metallic gold trim? ;o)

I agree, add stain over the paint--I had a sofa table I did in a bright turquise and wiped stain over it--make a world of difference.

I still want it to 'read' turquoise. Do you have a picture? ;o)

Horchow has always had several turquoise chests altho they are muted, distressed, and gilded. And typical Howchow prices. Link below. For anyone who has done any painting/distressing I don't think it would be difficult. I'd do it to one of my cream dressers but then I'd have to repaint a room, new WT's, fabrics, etc. and just not going there! Hope you post when it's done!

That's a wonderful turquoise dresser, yet it's obviously had a glaze put on over the turquoise and gold detailing. I'd definitely suggest either a glaze or some dry brushed stain applied to soften and "age" the bright color. Great inspiration pieces!!

Check with Newdawn to see if she has added anything to her armoire ...I tried Tropical Tides but have not added any stain yet...It really screams turquoise.Maybe just the dresser and do something else with the bed so you get that WOW pc. without overdoing it...Do one drawer and live with it for a couple of days....And yes you could always go to black if not happy...

I loved the inspiration pic as well! I can't wait to see the result of your piece! It definately needs a glaze. Try a coffee or walnut over it. I bet it will transform it. Can't wait!

I know what you mean. I started the Arhaus thread because I like the way their furniture is painted. I have been on a turquoise kick ever since I was convinced to paint my ceiling a very pale robins egg. I have always loved the color for an accent. Please keep us posted if you paint, and give us all the details! Debbie

I've been using Behr paint and really like at, as well as HD being fairly close. I found a color that seems very similar in color to the Tropical Tides, but need to get the sample to see how it looks in the room. I don't want the furniture to look green(yikes!)I'm getting excited! ;o)

I was looking on line at a house that's for sale, and noticed in one of the bedrooms a turquoise table was between twin beds. The beds were a medium stained wood, and it looked great. Since i'm not one for matchy-matchy to begin with, I won't be painting the bed turquoise, and after thinking about it, would probably be over-kill. The dresser with the gold painting will be enough over-kill! ;o)
