SLEEP Home Remedies
Comments (30)same thing with me... go to bed, hoping I can sleep through the night...no, most nights it's a wake up, every half hour, or 45 minutes, or less..I see the clock, try to sleep... it goes on through out the night. before, I used to take a tablet of paper and a pen. push them under the pillow.. if I woke up and had any thoughts, I'd pull it out and write it down..in the dark..it didn't matter if I had it correct or not, at least I had the idea written. that helped a lot. I had ideas for short stories, poems, things to build, things to paint, others to create with fabric, clay, rocks, or make garden ideas.. and in the end, it didn't matter if I did any of it.. I was just happy to have the idea written down and I could let go of it. I could read it in the morning, cuz I had it in print, or scribbled... it was my doctor who suggested it... he had 7 kids and his best time to study or write his papers, was after the kids were in bed..if he was tired but couldn't sleep, he would do that type of reading and writing. it worked for him, so he suggested it to me. back then, I had most of my kids still at home, too young to get themselves ready for bed.. I was exhausted...and that idea worked! dang, and lately I haven't been able to sleep through the night...so, thankyou, thankyou for asking for advice. I can take my own advice now and go ahead and get to bed..I have paper and pen right here, next to the computer....I sure wish I had remembered this, weeks ago! geez.......... nightee nite............... Comments (22)When I'm in the high desert, my heels crack even though I wear socks day and night, (so it's not UV light). When I'm in a more humid climate, the thick skin and cracking gradually reduce. Anything greasy helps. I use lanolin. I still have to scrape the thick callous off at least once a week when I'm in the high desert, or it will crack, grease or no. When I have a painful crack in my heel, what heals it quickly is to simply cover it with tape or a bandaid. I wash my feet, dry them (so the tape will stick), stuff a tiny bit of greasy stuff inside the crack, such as Chapstik or lanolin, and then put tape or a bandaid over it. Then I wear socks, of course. Within 8 hours it stops hurting, sometimes within 1 hour. Tape works even without stuffing a greasy dab in the crack, but not quite as quickly. Sometimes in the driest weather when cracks seem inevitable, I tape my heels preventively and it does work. My father used to get visibly thick cracked heels, in a humid climate in the US, but he never complained of them hurting, and i never saw him limp from it (so it's not only women, though it's true I've only ever had the discussion come up with woman friends or sisters)....See Morecracked heels, arghhhhh!
Comments (36)Glenda, buy yourself a Ped Egg. I used mine today because tonight I wore stockings for the first time in a couple of years. I went out to dinner and wore a new dress and I had to wear stockings. Funny thing, I met my friend at the restaurant and the parking lot was full so I parked in the lot next door. After dinner it was dark when we left so he walked me to my car. I was parked next to an alley and it was kind of dark. While we were standing there talking, a police car drove through the lot. The officer must have seen us walking in the alley and came through to see if we were doing anything illegal I guess. Maybe he was just checking to see if things were OK....See MoreCrack in Foundation Wall - 1 year old House
Comments (6)Without knowing where the crack is located and how extensive it may be, foundation cracks such as this often suggest foundation movement, which is a no-no! Do you have a slab on grade foundation? Have you noticed any interior cracking, sticking doors or windows? If it was my house I would get a foundation repair company to come out and inspect, including measuring your floors in your interior to see if there has been any subsidence. If there are foundation problems and your state has a mandatory warranty period for your general contractor, they may be required to remedy the situation. Don't ask them if there's a problem, however, until you have had the foundation inspected and have a report, since few general contractors will admit a foundation problem. Good luck!...See Moreteacats
