Remodeling Lighting Kitchens

Under cabinet lighting allowance

What is the recommended allowance for under cabinet lights and outlet strips? Cabinet maker wants to do 2.5" and that seems excessive based on my browsing of the different lighting types. Also looking for recommendations for the best type/brand of undercabinet lights and outlet strips please.

No idea the brand or the cost ... I just told the lighting subcontractor that I wanted the slimmest/cleanest look and he found the products. He showed me what he found and I then approved the purchase.

Plug-mold and 3500K LED light tape.
