What do you consider a small home? Under 1000 square feet??

@jck910 yes in australia i am looking at about 650 square feet homes, but would love feedback from anything where people are struggling with space.

I took a look at your survey. Back in the day I had three under four in a small home. The style of the 600 sq feet is very pertinent. Ours was three levels. Storage is #1. How people do it w/o basement space is beyond me. Our unfinished space was well used for active play with scooter cars/ swings from the rafters/ play dough etc. Eating areas were more of a challenge than bedrooms. Making one room for sleeping/dressing and the other for play/toys etc worked for us. The women here are much more concerned with look than function. In the real world a home where small children live is not one that is magazine ready. It's busy/messy and often not color coordinated. I think lifestyle would also dictate need. A home could be magazine ready if the kids don't really spend much time there--which is the way most live. We hustle our kids off to one institution or another vs living in our homes these days. They don't need play/art spaces in homes. That's a better starting point. What do you DO in your home? Most are there for what maybe an hour or three on either side of sleeping???
