If you don't have the skirt now why do you think you would need it for LVP? My comfort zone is matching things so I would recommend any skirt to be white.

I do not understand why . BTW have you priced the cost od LVP stairs I had to use a nosing on mine that did not match my flooring becuase my hubby is mostly blind but I ooriced matching nosing and boy was it expensive.. Can wee see the stairs from much further back so we can see your floor. Post here in a comment DO NOT start another post.

You won't know if you need to skirt until after the carpet, pad & tack strips are removed. There may be raw drywall gaps that the LVP won't be thick enough to hide. Also, do you know what the risers look like? Good enough condition to paint? What I'm getting at is the project may be more involved that what you are bargaining for.

How much foot traffic up & down?--carpet is much quieter than hard surface stairs.

There are codes for rise and tread. They are picky, picky , and yes, code for arrival at the top.

Rip the carpet, see what is beneath. Nobody can advise from the picture.

Had a similar here, leading to a second floor open loft over the great room after a total reno of first floor. New edge to edge carpet and no hand wring: )
