Do you have any dining chairs or something around the same width of the bar stools that you coukd put at the island to see if you are ok with it?

Those are too big and I never like stools that have arm and cannot swivel, since dragging them in and out has a bad effect on the floors . Everyone I have sitting at my counter leans on the counter no arms required .

Am finding that 8" to 12" between bar stools usually gives enough room for comfort.

You can still get the ”look” with less wide seat/legs and no arms, allowing for better functionality overall.

If it were me, I’d avoid white seating, unless it was leather.
