Seal OSB after tile removal before plywood subfloor?

Hi All -

I recently removed 750 sq ft of tile from an OSB subfloor. I cleaned the thinset off the OSB with a diamond cup wheel on my angle grinders. They did well. I am pondering sealing the OSB with Kilz or Shellac before I put down the plywood subfloor. Vinyl will go on top of the plywood.

Any thoughts on sealing? Any pros/cons? Concerns with sealing and moisture? Or will sealing help with moisture control?

If, you have the opportunity to air-seal, do so. This helps prevent moisture transfer, which helps controls humidity. Make sure you seal the gaps. also. It will be cheaper to do it now, than later. I would use a urethane or epoxy type moisture retarder/barrier.

You do not need any barrier between the existing subfloor and an underlayment.
