can I hang ship lap on my ceiling

I have a 1999 Liberty manufactured home. Liberty has gone out of business and cant find info. on the construction of the trusses. I want to hang tongue and groove on the ceilings. There is 1/2" drywall

there already, it is glued to the trusses other wise I would remove it. do you think it would hold the weight ? Or do you know were I could find this out?

It will be difficult to predict without using an engineer or an exceptional construction contractor. Based on what I've seen in manufactured homes I'd lay odds joists aren't designed to carry additional weight. While considering options look at faux boards made of foam.

While the 1/2" drywall already in place may provide some support, it's essential to assess whether it can handle the additional weight of the tongue and groove material. Consulting with a structural engineer or experienced contractor would be a wise step to take. They can evaluate the existing truss system and determine if any reinforcements are needed to support the new ceiling treatment.
