Would love to see a picture but I think I like the sound of the matte black

I know what a standing seam metal roof is, but, have never seen a metal shingle roof. I guess, they dont have them in my area. Can you post a picture of one, please.

Which roofing product did you choose? We are in the same dilemma - metal shingle vs. standing seam. Online roofers seem to push for the standing seam but it is not the look for our house.

Both are fine and work well. The larger decision factor here is what looks right on the home and what you will like. If done properly, both of them should be the last roof you put on the house.

My brother got the shingle style metal roof. Supposed to resemble shakes. They do have more texture than a standing sea roof has and the shakes seem to accumulate debris, leafs and such. The standing seam wouldn't have that problem. Since the standing seam are larger sheets and less areas where things could go wrong I would have to think less worries about any failure areas. They are totally different looks.

While, despite their best efforts, you can install a metal shingle roof incorrectly...the reality is that once it is done right and doesn't leak on the first rainstorm, it really should never leak.

Two things to consider:

1. Standing seam is more modern than the shingles so try to match the style of the house.

2. If you have plans for solar panels on the roof most installers require standing seam.

What happens if you have to get on the metal shingles after it is installed? Can you walk on it?

Yes. They have specific walk instruction, but yes.
